A-Z of Cleaner Seas™
Everyday actions, shared language, and creative collaboration.
It starts here — with understanding, creativity, and the power of community.
The A–Z of Cleaner Seas is an initiative designed to remove the barriers of over-complicated environmental terminology, which often prevents people, especially young people, from fully engaging with climate and ocean issues.
We work with schools and groups to co-create a collaborative quilted alphabet, with each school or group creating one letter made from marine debris. Their letter will represent a word like B for Biodiversity and each group will define their chosen term in simple, accessible language.
Each school contributes not just a letter, but also a story, a conversation, and a vision for change. These letter pieces are sewn together by volunteers into a single, collective artwork, a full A–Z that tells the story of a generation learning to care for the sea.
Once complete, the quilt will go on tour, with the final destination set for Westminster, a powerful, visible statement of hope, creativity and youth-led advocacy.
Why it matters:
Breaks down barriers to understanding environmental language
Builds creative confidence and ocean literacy
Connects schools and groups through a shared artistic mission
Turns marine debris into meaning
Inspires action through ownership and storytelling
This is climate education made tangible, joyful and deeply collaborative; one letter at a time.
Thank you to the very awesome sea-changers for supporting and funding this initiative.
